Ultrasound

So I went for my ultrasound this morning and it turns out that Eli is NOT transverse! He is head down, ready for action! He is measuring about a week behind, but looked perfectly healthy. She estimated him to be 5 pounds, 13 ounces. Kind of odd - not exactly a Lamp kind of measurement! Typically babies gain 1/2 pound a week in the last month, so we can still expect him to grow about a pound and a half. Still....a seven pound baby? Tiny compared to Ethan at 8 pounds, 9 ounces!
Anyway, it was good to see him again. We saw his head/profile mostly and saw that he was sucking. Also verified that it IS a boy! Good to be sure...

Let the waiting begin! (well, continue, I guess...)

Church Shower

We were so blessed to be given a shower by our church family on Sunday. My girls did an awesome job decorating and creating quite the spread!

Thank you RACHEL, STACEY, TRACIE, ANGELA, MELISSA, and JOY for a fabulous shower! Love you all! (and yes, I wore jeans to my own shower. I am soooo at the point where I feel like nothing fits and well, that's what I wore)

Rachel did a tremendous job with the cake. It was perfect!!! (Although I have to say...cracked me up when we started eating the petafores (sp?) and after the first four were gone it left 'Arson Lamp')

Stacey made a wonderful diaper cake:
Joy outdid herself with the fruit and chocolate:

Caden and Keira made excellent helpers:
Thanks Rach, for the perfect shirt for Eli!
Thanks for a great shower everyone! We feel so loved and blessed!

Completely not shower related, but had to throw them in there. We actually had some warm(er) weather lately and were able to get out and play and enjoy the new stroller.

We did some 'spring cleaning' in the garage while it was warm on Saturday. Thought my boys looked so cute standing at the workbench together.

(almost) 37 weeks

Yikes...
D day is coming soon!!!

Went for my weekly check up this afternoon. I asked her if she could tell what position he was in because it felt like he was transverse. She said just by looking at my belly, and the fact that I am suddenly measuring small when I've been fine up until now, suggest that he probably is transverse. She ordered an ultrasound for the morning to find out for sure, as well as get Eli's measurements.
After talking to my personal nurse (Rachel), she helped me realize what that could mean - a C-section! If Eli doesn't turn in the next week and a half, we could be looking at that possiblity! Honestly, I think I'm okay with that. I know the recovery from a C-section is hard, but without getting into details that no one wants to know, I had a hard enough recovery with Ethan, so I think I'd rather this kind of recovery than the other. Enough said.

So, we get another peek at Eli at 7:30 tomorrow morning. Can't wait to see him again and see how he's measuring.

Ethan's Two Year Stats

Ethan had his two-year check up today:
Weight: 33 pounds - 95th percentile (Holy moly! He's a Lamp!)
Height: 35 3/4 inches -85th percentile (or is he a Willis??)

He also had another ear infection. I lost count a long time ago but we've got to be getting close to a dozen. Might need to ask about tubes next time.

But he's happy and healthy!

Ethan's Birthday!!!!!

Ethan turned T-W-O on Sunday. Wow...can't believe it. We decided to keep it low key this year, since Valentine's was on a Sunday, and we figured everyone would be doing 'date night' on either Friday or Saturday. Soooo, we just gathered the fam and a few friends for lunch after church.

Okay, the pictures are in backwards order and I don't feel like fixing it... sorry! Pretend it's that Seinfeld episode where everything happened backwards.

We got Ethan a real bike - he's kind of outgrown his tricycles and we figured by summer he'll fit on a big boy bike, but we were wrong! He's still about 3 inches too short, but hopefully he'll grow fast. He really liked it, though!
Party at Lin's Garden:

Our best attempt at a group picture of all the kids. Don't know why Ethan is crying - he just randomly started screaming for a few seconds, then he was fine.

Ethan reading the Elmo card from Lance and Amanda. They give the BEST cards. Ethan still plays with his monkey card that he got from them LAST YEAR!

The whole crew (well, most anyway):
Ethan LOVED his Elmo cake, but did not eat a single bite of it! It was past his nap time by this point and he was sooooo tired. Very uninterested in actually eating birthday cake!

The kids all loved the Elmo balloon:

Okay, backwards all the way to morning. We had kept the Grubblets over night, so they got to join in on the birthday fun.
We got Ethan a fish!!!! He LOOOOOVES his fishy! We've taught him how to take care of it himself. It is tooo cute to watch him care for the fish. He feeds him every morning when he wakes up and again right before he goes to bed. The fish tank has a light on it that he turns on to feed and turns it off again when he's done. It's amazing how much he loves it already.
His conversations with fishy:
Morning: "Hi fishy! Morning! Eat breakfast!"
After school: "Hi fishy! How day? Swim? Hi fishy!"
At bedtime: "Hi fishy! Eat! Nigh nigh. Love you!"

A short version of what Ethan's up to:
He now knows ALL his letters, all his shapes (not just the easy ones - he knows octagon, pentagon, crescent, etc.), he can count to 14, recognizes most numbers to 10, knows his colors most of the time, he loves to ask us how are day was "how day?", he is already into the 'terrible twos' and throws tantrums when he doesn't get his way, he's obsessed with Elmo, he's a lot more interested in TV in general, especially Handy Manny, he's very nurturing - he likes to make his bears kiss each other and us, he pats our back when he hugs us, he can also NOT be nurturing - he likes to hit/swing at us, enjoys spitting his food on the table and floor, he's still very picky but will eat pasta at every meal if we let him, still LOVES to read and knows a lot of books by heart and can 'read' them himself, loves to play with his tool workbench, he's getting more into trucks - especially fire trucks and his new ambulance, and well, I could go on and on but that's the gist.
Happy birthday sweet Ethan! You will always be Mommy's little Valentine!

More Elmo

You'd think we let Ethan watch Elmo all day every day with the frequency that he talks and sings about Elmo. I promise we don't! In fact, I can't even think of the last time he's gotten to watch Elmo - at least a couple of weeks.

But, nonetheless, he's obsessed!

I think he'll flip out when he sees his birthday cake on Sunday has ELMO on it!!!

My New Love

The new double stroller that I ordered just came in the mail today - I am sooooooo excited! I LOVE IT!!!
It's not a true double stoller. The younger child sits in the front, either in the stroller or in the car seat. The older child has the option of standing or sitting in the back. We figure it'd be perfect for things like the zoo, or softball games, where Ethan won't really want to be permanently stuck in the stroller, but can get in and out for more freedom.

Ethan modeling how to stand in the back: (Doggy is modeling Eli's spot)

Ethan taking care of the 'baby': (it only slightly bothers me that the old car seat doesn't match the new stroller, but that will only matter for the first few months, until Eli's old enough to ride without the car seat)

Ethan modeling Eli's spot:
We took walks ALLLL over the house tonight, with Ethan trying out all the different positions. He really got a kick out of all the pockets and put all kinds of toys in them.
Can't wait for it to warm up so we can try it outside. And of course, we need Eli to get here! Until then, we'll practice with Keira and Ethan together.

Holiday Babies

If you remember two years ago I absolutely did NOT want Ethan to be born on Valentine's Day. I don't know why, but it just didn't seem right. Well, sure enough, that's when he decided to come! So now that Eli is due on March 20th, I can't help but think it'd be so cool for him to come on St. Patrick's Day, March 17. What can be better than two holiday babies?

Ethan had a cute little onesie that said 'Mommy's Little Valentine' that I ended up framing and putting in his room. So it's been my mission to find something similar for Eli. Found it today! Isn't it so stinkin' cute???

Now let's just see if we can actually get Eli to come on St. Patrick's Day!

Silly Little Man

If you have a toddler, or even are ever around a toddler, you will laugh HYSTERICALLY at this. (well, I did, at least)

Okay, if you don't get it...

The theme song to Elmo is "la la la la, la la la la, Elmo's World." Sooooo...that's Ethan's impression of it, I guess.

School Shower

We were so blessed to be given a shower for Eli at my school today. WOW, were we spoiled! Eli got all kinds of cool stuff: blankets, diapers, wipes, wipes warmer, bottles, paci's, burp cloths, bibs, outfits, shoes, stuffed animals, books, washcloths, towels, picture frame, photo album, gift cards, and more!

Okay, I'm going to brag on myself for a second. I don't even look pregnant!

Oh, wait. I DO look pregnant! (very!)
Jenny, one of the other first grade teachers at our school, painted the canvas on the left (above)with Eli's name on it. Isn't that awesome? It matches Eli's room perfectly!

Love the cute ducky robe!

Look at these personalized burp cloths!!! Too cute...

Okay, just for the record, here I am, ENORMOUS with Ethan two years ago. Holy cow. Literally.

Snow, Crib, Coffee, Tools, and a Flashback

Those things all go together, right????

We got 6-8 inches of snow over the weekend, but with Ethan still fighting a cough and runny nose, his mean mommy wouldn't let him play in it. Next best thing? Eating snow in the warm, cozy house. Ethan ate 3 bowls of it! Then we made snow cream and he ate a little of that, too.

I've started making a To Do List of all the things we need to do before Eli gets here, and one of those was raising up the crib, so Ethan and Lonnie tackled that project on Sunday:
Lonnie and Ethan have special bonding time each Saturday and Sunday morning as they make coffee together. Ethan knows how to do it and loves to help!

Snow day today - we enjoyed playing with tools!

We had to finish our tool play time with a diaper change and he looked so silly I had to take a picture.
Once I looked at that picture, it reminded me of this picture:

Oh, how he's grown and changed. I miss him being that age! Oh, that smile! But now he can not only smile, but give the best kisses and tell us that he loves us too, so we'll happily take it!
So that sums up what we've been up to lately!
