Ethan has learned to smile!!!! He actually started doing it a couple of weeks ago, but he is doing it a lot more frequently now. I've learned that first thing in the morning is his best time of day (just like his momma!). After his morning feeding, we read books and sing together (well, mostly just me, but he'll join in eventually!). That's when I get the best smiles out of him. I've had a hard time capturing his smiles, but I finally learned to hide the camera behind the book and sneak it up to take a picture. I love this time of day! We usually do that for about an hour before he's ready to go back to sleep.
Enjoy my smiley boy!!!!

wow! what a strong kid! He is just getting cuter and cuted (if that's even possible!). I have always enjoyed mornings with my kiddos... it is definitely our happiest and most fun time of day! Glad you are enjoying them too!
When is his next checkup? Does he get all his shots then? I always hate that shot visit.. but it is also a relief to know they are a little more protected!
Have a Happy Easter!!!
Funny you should ask about his next visit...
He goes at 2 months, which happens to be the week I go back to work (and I checked - they won't do it even a single day before 2 months), so Lonnie will be taking Ethan to that appointment. And YES, shots will be involved! I of course hate to miss it, but a part of me is glad that I don't have to see him get shots - I've heard it's so hard to watch your baby go through that, even if it is for just a few minutes.
I've been meaning to ask you - you did Babywise with your kiddos, right? If so, I have a few questions for you.
Hope you have nice spring weather for Easter! :)
I did read Babywise and we used quite a few of the principles... Some of them were a bit much for us and really didn't work with our lifestyle and routine but for the most part, we thought it was a really good solid foundation for our being first time parents.
Interestingly enough, a lot of the principles in Babywise most teachers use in their classrooms and so a lot of it was common sense to us (not so for other people)... ideas like positive reinforcement and giving VERY short direct instructions. Things that I think come more naturally to a teacher.
To this day Trev and I say teaching the kids sign language was by far the best thing we did. Neither of our kids have ever had tantrums or gone thru a "no" stage. Parker was able to teach Lillie A LOT of signs and they had their own secret language... All around it was just sooo beneficial. It doesn't delay speech (as some argue) if anything it gives them a tool at a very very young age (we started at 3 months) to communicate and not get frustrated when they are hungry, thirsty, tired or need something. It is also so easy to teach a caregiver and it's a good way for a baby to be able to communicate to several different people. We have some awesome videos and dvds(Signing Time) that our kids love that you can have (we have several copies)...
Ok, this is way long for a blog comment. Sorry. Feel free to email or call me...
The shots are bad but sometimes I think the 24 hours following are worse. Some kids have no reactions, our kids always run fevers and are miserable. Oh well. Just remember Infant tylenol is your best friend!
i love the pictures! don't they change and grow so fast? it is really amazing to watch them learn so many new things so quickly!
ok, no pressure or anything BUT I know you have a cute first Easter picture hanging out somewhere on your memory card:)
Hope all is well with you guys...
miss you!
